As most Eagles fans have heard by now, the source of Jim Johnson’s back pain during the playoffs was a tumor pressing on his spine. The tumor is a recurrence of Johnson’s melanoma that first appeared in 2001. The troubling part of the announcement is that it sounds as if the cancer has metastasized.
This is a piece of news that hits close to home for me as my Mom has been fighting melanoma since for almost three years. It’s nothing short of a dog fight and here’s hoping that Jim Johnson comes out on top and is back coaching next seasons. Get well Coach Johnson.
